Canceled Trip

Well, hubby and I had planned a trip to see the family. We had spent the last couple of days making plans and preparing to be gone. Cat boxes scooped, food out of the fridge, dishes washed, getting scripts filled, packing etc. Last night I hurried around after work, cleaning, feeding animals, and doing laundry. We went to sleep and got up early (only four hours of sleep for hubby). We drove the 30 min. to the airport, and stored the car in long term parking. Went to catch the flight at the airport. Had our gate moved, ate breakfast and sat waiting for our flight. Well, right before boarding time, the flight was canceled. No flights were going into or out of the city we were going to because of 50 mph winds and blowing snow. As standby passengers, our chances of getting a later flight (if they took off at all) were next to none. So, we had our bags pulled, and sent to the baggage area (an hour later) and eventually went home. All in all we had a breakfast out, walked around two miles, and had to pay two dollars for parking. So now we are home with the next two days free and nothing to do but feel crappy that we had to cancel our trip. (SIGH) It was a long day.

Just wanted to add a pic. from New Years 2008!

I have decided that sleep is good.

I am currently sitting in bed, just relaxing after a good and long nights sleep. I woke up actually feeling awake and refreshed. I'm not sure when the last time that happened was. Usually, I get up in a fog and then yawn and zone out until around 12 - which is not good when you are teaching. Today is different, I feel like I could go run a marathon. I wonder what I did differently last night. Maybe it was the fact that I watched "Pretty Woman" last night before I went to sleep? I may have to try watching a movie in bed, before bed, again as am experiment. Hummm....the science teacher comes out again. :-P

Ich spreche Deutsch! Heute ich war ein Deutsch Lerherin.

Today I took a half day teaching GERMAN! Whoo hoo! At first I did not want to accept the job because it was at a school where I do not enjoy teaching. I had also told myself I wouldnt not take another job there unless I was in DIRE straights. I finally decided to take it because, 1.) it was a German class and 2.) it was only for a half day and I think I could deal with just about anything for only four hours.

It was nice to, finially, be able to practice some of my German. Of course, the kids did not know as much as I do but, it was nice to hear a little bit. It also made me feel good about how much I do really know.

All in all, the day went very well and I came away wanting to learn more German and realizing that the school that I had written off was not as bad as I had remembered. I think I'll sub there again. Looking back, my bad experience may have just been because I was subbing for a poor teacher....humm...things to ponder.

Just a thought.

I had a thought today. Just one. lol. Most people (myself included) use blogs to let out steam, make a statement, and to vent about their day. Not too many people just write about how good their life is so, today I think I'll do that.

I am content with my life right now. It may not be perfect, and I may not have the perfect job but, I can truly say I am happy. I feel as though hubby and I are in a place right now where we are living semi-comfortably (meaning that we can afford our groceries). We are looking forward to the things to come and are finialy investing in our dreams. We have been saving for a house, investing in our IRA, and putting money away for a possible trip one day.

I feel as though hubby and I get to see one another often, get to spend tons of quality time together and that I have plenty of my own free time. I dont feel tied down to any obligations with my jobs, and pretty much have zero job stress. I am happy to be in the city I want to live in and I have a home that I am proud of.

All and all the only thing I can say is, thank you Jesus for taking care of me and blessing me with such comfort and happiness. You are a merciful God who is fulled with grace and gives away blessings freely. For that I am incredibly greatful.

Dashing through the snow!

Yeah! We have a two hour snow delay toay! Wooohoo! The sad thing though is that I still had to get up and get ready. Right as I was going to walk out of the door I decided to check the TV...just in case. "___ school distirct TWO HOUR DELAY, no am kindergarten or preschool." Boy do I love delays. The only problem is I have no idea what the schools delay schedule is or what time school technically starts. Oh well. At least I think I am still getting paid for a whole day. :-)

...the big cheese cometh...

The big cheese, better known as my daddy, came on Saturday. He will be staying with us again for the whole week so that he can network and interview with various companies in the area. Its great having him around the house. He helps out more than he should, and its nice to have someone to eat breakfast with in the morning. Its such a blessing that we are able to spend this time with each other, and really build our relationship. When else can you sit on the couch after a long day of work and just chat with your daddy for hours?

I pray to God that he finds a job soon. Im affraid that he will go insane before this whole ordeal is over...my poor daddy.

Ps. I took this picture with some goofy software at Shannons when I visited her last. I think I look like a "Who" from "Whoville." What do you think?

Another day in the life of a teacher...organic(ist)...cat wrangler...tired woman....

So, I just got home from work. I am sitting on my couch eating my organic hummus and guac. wondering why I am so darn tired. For starters, I think it because I just made myself organic hummus and guac. instead of opening a jar of premade junk. Jeeze- I guess on one said organic eating was going to be easy.

Today was a good day, I taught fifth grade all day. Only one thing was out of the ordinary. I was observed by the principal for a possible long term sub job for a teacher who is going to be out for five weeks. Talk about stressful. I really made my money today. I felt like I could have been dancing on the tables to keep the kids interest and please the principle. Hopefully all of my hard work will pay off some time in March. Hopefully I will have work five days a week for five week...no pay increase...but at least I 'll know that I will have work each day.

Back to the guac.(boy I miss my Shannon) and wrangling the cats who are running around.

...five year olds can do what?...

Today I was a kindergarten teacher. The class had 29 students, which is 20 too many when it comes to kindergarteners. I was amazed by how much they were expected to know and how young the 5 year olds really were. You could totally see a huge developmental difference between the “youngs” and the “lates.” This class was a very well behaved class but, with that said I'm not sure I would want my little 5 year old in there one day. Yet again, I have decided that homeschooling will be a good thing. At least until our children are ready for the 1st grade.

...we decompose slower...?

The little known fact that, “we now decompose slower than our ancestors because of all of the preservatives we eat,” is what began the hubby's recent quest to go organic. I always had a desire but, I never thought I would be able to convince him. Well since he saw this fact he has been all for it.

As of January 1st we began our new lifestyle of organic eating (we did not to a 100% switch – its the wintertime and organic produce isn't the easiest to get right now). I must say it feels good and the food tastes better. I like to be able to look at a box of food and be able to read all five of the ingredients. It goes right along with the fact that I use canvas totes for groceries and have been trying to minimize our trash output. I guess we really are turning green....

Once again, the science teacher in me comes out.

Bob Ross

So, not knowing if I should write an introductory "grand opening" type of first blog or not I decided that I would just start writing. Period.

So, hubby and I are sitting in front of the TV as usual. Watching, vegging, and absorbing whatever happens to be on. Well, we often comment on how much we miss watching the legendary painter, Bob Ross. Today we WIN! Bob Ross is on TV! Thank you TV station programmers! What an amazing man he was. The language he used was incredible. Any other person would be boring to watch paint but, when a man says “dooders,” “happy little,” “where ever you want the cloud to live,” “the little rascal,” and “in your world, you decide” you cant help but sit and stare with your mouth open.
